Sometimes, a tooth may fracture during removal. In other cases, the tooth might be too firmly embedded or positioned in a way that makes it difficult to extract fully.

When the Procedure Becomes Complex

If an extraction becomes too complex or falls outside the scope of a general dentist, patients are usually referred to secondary care.

This often involves a trip to a local hospital for a minor surgical extraction.

We are now offering an Advanced Dentistry Referral Service from dental colleagues or from patients themselves for a failed or complex tooth extraction.

We aim to see patients within 7 days of receiving the referral.
